WhiteSpace at the Tristan Bates Theatre, London
On the 20th December, WhiteSpace Theatre were back in London performing The Yellow Wallpaper as part of the Midnight Matinees venture run by The Tristan Bates Theatre.
The Midnight Matinee evenings occur at midnight (funny that!) on the third Saturday of every month and are an opportunity for new companies with new writing to take risks and get their work seen by a wider audience.

A very different interpretation...
Sarah Stewart ( the Writer and Director) decided to focus on the abilities of two of her performers who trained in contemporary dance at LABAN - this resulted in a very physical shortened version of the original play, stripped of almost all text and laced with a modern soundscape.
"The Midnight Matinee performance was an opportunity to really play with the character relationships that had developed during Edinburgh using movement and dance. Our use of this material in other projects made performing at the Tristan Bates very worthwhile."
(Sarah Elaine Stewart, 2009)
